Mikio, a young Japanese man, returns to his hometown after a long trip abroad. To relax a little, he stays in a local hotel whose service is completely steeped in the spirit of Japan's past. There are wooden rooms, with bamboo walls, and the staff wear kimonos and yukatas. Mikio meets his old acquaintance Yukino Chitose, who brings back memories of their past together. It would seem that one should just approach and tell about his feelings... but on the way of modest Mikio, Kanzo, a womanizer and sycophant, stands in the way and starts to play with the local girls, and mocking Mikio.
