There was a reason for this - the scheme was well-proven and the victims always kept quiet. But this time an unrecorded factor - the involuntary accomplice's conscience - has interfered into the tested system. The moral of the story is very simple and instructive: very often the consequences of our actions and mistakes remain with us (and not always only in memory) until the end.
